In compliance with the instructions of our Host Keo To General, we hereby appoint the 6th of June, as the date for the opening of the 21st. Proximial Chapter of our Province, to be held at St. Anne's Retreat, Sutton. We request the Capitular Fathers to be at the said Retreat, not later than the evening of June and, so as to take part in the Solemn Tridum and Preliminary Meetings, previous to the opening of the Chapter.
For many years our Province, at home and in Australia, has steadily progressed spiritually and materially. We have to thank the good God that during the period which has classed since the last Chapter this progress has been maintained.
In spite of the very difficult times, thro' which we are passing, our houses, with our exception, have been able to meet their heavy liabilities; and our general material rootion has even been strengthened. At the same time, the physical uses of our Religious have been supplied as their years, the state of their health, and the nature of their duties required. Economy without charity would be against the surest of our Rule and contrary to common justice.
What is still more important, the spiritual work has not been neglected. Our parashioners have been assidiously visited; the attendances at Holy Mass, Devotions, and the Sacraments have largely increased in our Churches, in response to fervent sermons and epistolations, the confraternities, especially the confraternity of the Passion, have been efficiently worked; and the rich of the little ones in our schools has been tenderly nurtured. On supplies and charity sermons, in missions and retreats our Fathers have preached Christ brucified and have laboured, geatively and self-sacrificingly, in a manner which has brought credit to our Order, and immense benefit to souls.
We have to mount the loss of some of the oldest and most early of our Religious R.I.P. God, in his goodness, is calling to our Congregation, at home and in Australia, fervent and suitable subjects, who will in the future unnounce to the world. His love and his sufferings. The Fathers, who have helped in seeing these candidates, have earned the gratitude of us all. Exemplar recognition is due to those, who have been charged with the physical, intellectual and spiritual training of our young men. Their work at Claremont, Goulbourn, Enniskillen, Mt. Argus, and Broadway has been beyond all praise.
Above all and beyond all, we rejoice at the spirit of peace and union, of religious forbearance and consideration, and of true religious charity which rewards all our communities.
These having results could only be arranged by a body of men animated by the Surest of God. And we thank Miss Providence that, thro' his goodness and the prayers of St. Paul of the Cross, the Religious of our Province are true Passionists, now who labour incessantly for their own sanctification and for the salvation of souls. These religious have been guided, helped and incouraged by rendered Superiors, and all have worked harmoniously together for the common good.
The deeres of the last Proximial Chapter have helped much towards the success attained, especially the deeres regarding the care of the sick, temperance, the increased attention to the confraternity of the Passion, the establishment of the aluminates, and the training of our young missioners under an efficient Professor.
A word of praise is due to our Say Brothers who, with few exceptions, by the faithful exercise of their inside and outside duties have materially assisted the Fathers in the work of the Order.
Nor should we fail to appreciate the courage and devotion of our drink Christians, who amidst privations, and often at the risk of their lives, have spiritually tended the wounded and dying soldiers in hospitals and on the battle fields in the different seats of war.
Though our Province has thus favorably progressed, yet there is still much room for further improvement. It would be folly and presumption to deny that, whether as individuals or as communities, we fail in many things. The success, buthers obtained, should only stimulate us in still greater and more determined effort. It is for this purpose Holy Church has ordained the holding of

Regions blapers we have to correct any lasty or ubuses that may export amonget us, and to frame wise decrees for the incomparatement of zeal and fervour, as well as to elect Superiors who by word and by example, will foster the true Passioned spirit in our Province.
Each Provincial blaper is an important even in the life of the Order. On account of the extraordinary conditions of the present time, and of the uncertousness and perhaps more critical circumstances of the future, the coming blaper will be particularly important. We must provide for all contingencies, and more than ordinary prudence will be required for the consideration of serious problems, and for the selection of Superiors suited to the times. The boundary Fathers will need special help from on High to inable them to discharge their responsible duties. Let the Religious, therefore, offer fervent prayers that this Divine assistance may be granted to the blaper. In addition, we prescribe that from the East of our Holy Founder, until June 2nd they shall recite during the vening meditation or other suitable time, three Paters, Aves, and Glorias, in honour of St. Michael, St. Joseph, and St. Paul of the Gross with their respective antislavery and prayers for the same intention. Furthermore from the of May until 2nd of June the "Veri breator" with the versule and prayer, and the diany of the P. V. In with the antislavery and prayer be recited also. On the days of the Tridum preceding the blaper as well as on the day of the opening of the same, the blake Paters shall receive H. Communion.
We remind the Rectors to bring to the blaper their different Paters and their seals of office and the following documents:-
I. berthficate of 1 act keening of the archies, signed by the Rector and the Vicar.II. berthficate of the faithful calebration of the Masses, during the past three years, signed by all the presents of the Community except the Rector.III. Inventory of House, bloom, and SacretyIV. Financial Statement giving the income and expenditure, ordinary and extraordinary since the last blaper, with balance in house and bank, at the beginning and end of term.V. Statement of the different standing loans and ammunities, with percentage of intrest payable, as also of current debts, giving amount due to each creditor. This should include a comparison with financial position at last blaper. Statements 4 and 5 are to be signed by the Rector and bouncillors, and a copy of them should be entered in the Administration Book.VI. A filled up form, giving an account of the spiritual state of the Congregation under our charge, as prescribed by Decree 11 of the 20th Prov. blaper. A copy of this should be prescribed. The Superiors of Herme Bay, of Sandymount, and of our Australian Foundations are required to forward in good time to the President of the blaper, all the above named documents.
As is customary we make known officially that the vacancy occurring in the Rector's ship of Holy Gross Retreat, Belfast was filled on Sept 25th, 1915 by the canonical election of the V. R. L. bypress of the Precious Blood. This election took place at St. Mango's Retreat, San Jose The vacancy in the Massership of Houses was filled on Nov. 5th of the same year by the canonical election at St. Anne's Retreat, Sutton of the V. R. L. Express of the Infant Jesus. To Intrem being under age the necessary dispensation was obtained from the Holy See.
We consider it right to announce that circumstances may render it necessary to prescribe the date for the opening of the blaper.
