To the Very Revd F. F. Consultors, Rectors, Master of Novices, Superiors, & all the Priests, Students & Lay-brothers of the Anglo-Hibernian Province of the Congregation of the Most Holy Cross & Passion of our Ford Jesus Christ — Health & Peace in the Lord.
Having obtained the requisite permission of the Mosh Revd Fr. General we have now to announce to you the Convocation of the Eighteenth Provincial Chapter of our Province.
We appoint the 25th day of July next as the day of the opening of the Chapter, & St Joseph's Rebreak Highgate, London as the place for holding the said Chapter.
We beg of you to pray fervently that the Holy Spirit may guide the deliberations of the Chapter. For this end we order that from the receipt of this letter until the 22nd day of July the Religious shall recite, during the time of the evening Meditation, the following prayers — Three Palers, Aves & Glorias in honour of our Holy Palers, St Michael, St Joseph & Our Holy Founder St Paul of the Cross, with the respective antiphons & prayers. And further more from the 1st of July until the 22nd of the same month, the "Veni Creator" with versicle & prayer, & the Litany of the Blessed Virgin, with antiphon & prayer "Concede", shall be recited in addition to the above prayers.

Table on the days of the Tridecum preceding the Chapter & on the day of the Opening of the Same. But the Religious should not be content with the recitation of these prescribed public prayers. Everyone should consider it his bounden duty to beseech with continual prayer the Giver of all Good Gifts to power forth. His blessings on the Coming Chapter so that men may be elected who by word & example may guide those committed to their Care.
We felt it a great privilege to be present recently in Rome at the Solemn Beatification of Confr. Gabriel of the Addolorata. It was indeed a touching moment when, the Decree of Beatification having been read, the picture of the new Beats appeared luminous & radiant before the bast congregation which thronged St Peter's. The earthly life of B. Gabriel was marked by no extra ordinary events or incidents. He wrought no miracles, he was not invested with the sacred character of the priesthood, but he attained such perfection in a few brief years that after his death God was pleased to show the holiness of his Servant by many wonderful miracles wrought through his interession. He was acceptable to God because he made a perfect sacrifice of self to the Divine Majesty, & kept his bones & rule with friendly even in small things. The such a life lesson of n is especially valuable to us in this Province where the inner spiritual life stands in jeopardy from the many

distractions involved in a life of often almost ceasless activity. Whatever our position in the Congregation, we can all attain great sanctity by the underwing performance of our duties & obligations in a Spirit of self sacrifice in that position where God has placed us.
We append duly authorized instructions for the celebration of the Deathfication.
We remind the Rectors to bring their "Litterac Patentes" & Seals of Office, & Reators & Superiors to bring to the Chapter the following documents:—
1. Certificate of the faithful celebration of Masses Signed by all the priests of the House - except the Rector or Superior.
2. Certificate of the faithful Keeping of the Archives Signed by the Rector or Superior, & Vicar.
3. Inventory of House, Church & Sacristy furniture.
4. A faithful statement of the debts of the Retreat, shewing the monies borrowed at interest & the percentage payable, monies borrowed without interest, all out-standing debts & current bills to date including rents, taxes &c. and finally the amount of the balance in hand or in Bank at the time of leaving Office.
The Capitular Fathers are required to be at St Joseph's Rebreak, Highgate not later than the evening of the 21st of July so as to assist at the Tridum &

To be read publicly to the Religious Assembled
in Choir or Refectory -
We appoint 10th, 11th + 12th July reset for the
celebration of the Solemn Trideum in honour of the
Blessed Gabriel of the Addolorata.
The Solemn Trideum consists in the tribute of worship &
of the 'honour of the Allars' to be paid for the first time
to the newly Beatified on three consecutive days. The
ceremonies of this worship should be in the first place
strictly liturgical, consisting of High Mass and Solemn
Vespers where circumstances permit. Other ecclesiastical
functions are also allowed. Such as Solemn Benediction
with consent of the Prelimary. The Pancyric may be
preached after the Gospel at High Mass, or before or after
Vespers. On the last day the Solemn singing of the Te Deum
with prayer for gratiarum actione (to be said after the
prayer of the B. Sacrament 'Deus qui nobis' - Sub unica

conclusione) Should on no account be omitted. All the Masses whether High or for Should be regarded as Votive & said with Gloria & Credo, & St John's Goopel at the end. The High Mass is said with only one prayer the Low Masses should be said with all the Commemorations occurring, but Sine Collecte.
On Sunday 12th July, as it is a double of the Second Class, only High Mass of the B. Gabriel may be said. Low Masses should be of the day with a Commemoration of the B. Gabriel & the other Commemorations. The Vespers being Votive do not satisfy the obligation incumbent on those bound to the Divine Office.
A Plenary Indulgence can be gained once by all the faithful on the usual conditions of Confession & Communion provided they visit the Church where the Tridum takes place & there pray some time for the intentions of His Notiness.
An Indulgence of 100 days may be gained once a day by those who at least with a Contrite heart visit the Said Church & pray as above. Both Indulgences are applicable to the Souls in Purgatory.
We earnestly exchort the Religious especially the Superiors to spread devotion to the newly Beatfield among the faithful by endeavouring to distribute pictures of him as widely as possible &

by promoting confidence in his interesses. A supply of pictures of various kinds may be heard through the Rev. P. Luigi, Sub-Postalator, Ritico di SS. Giovanni e Paolo, Rome, from whom also relies may be obtained for which an offering should be sent to pay expenses of the Setting & Postage. A short life of B. Gabriel is published by the English C.T. Society, & we hope that before the end of the year an adaptation of the life written in Italian by Fr Germano will be issued.
