Province of St Josephs.
Held in St Josephs Retreat - Highgate Hill -
London - R.
In accordance with the circular letter of the Very Rev. H. Rephorsus, Provincial, dated March 19th 1881, consisting, with the consent of the Most Rev. H. General, the IX Provincial Chapter, prescribing the usual devotions, and appointing the 24th of June as the date thereof, and the Retreat of St Josephs, Highgate, as the place to hold the same - the Capitular Lathers assembled in the above named Retreat on Monday the 20th Inst. The Most Rev. H. General who came from Some to preside at the Chapter, being abreadu in the Retreat. There were also present the Lathers of St Mungo's Glasgow, and St Josephs Paris, called to give an account of their respective Houses. All assisted at the usual Initium.

On the morning of Tuesday the 21st was held the of Selectionary meeting. The World Rev. H. General Presiding. The Very Rev. H. Fithers was appointed provisional Secretary for the Selectionary Meetings.
I Meeting.
The Fathers assembled at 10 oc. A.M.
The Superiors and Rectors read their financial Statements, and handed in the Other Capitular documents viz. the Inventories, the Certificate of the due celebration of Masses, and of the faithful Receiping of the Rechievism; and their Eagellis and Leds of Office. The Very Rev. H. Kneelm & Dominic were appointed to examine the jes. and Other documents. Afterwards the assembled Fathers, each in turn proposed those matters which were to form the subject of subsequent deliberation for the good of the Province.
The meeting aboard at 12 oc. with the usual prayers.
II Meeting.
The Fathers assembled in the Chapter Room at

1/ At this meeting all the Doctors and Superiors gave an account of the state of their respective houses, and stated the wants of each.
2/ The Fathers underinnously agreed to a proposal made by the Most Rev. Dr. General that £20 a year be paid by this Province for each student sent to Rome for his education, and that after their ordination as Prist this sum be reduced to £10 a year.
3/ The Regulations for Resirous recently prepared were read by the Univ Rev. Dr. Rephonseus, as far as Chap. III, when the Meeting closed at 4 P.M.
III Meeting.
The Fathers assembled at 4.30. vc. P.M. on
June 22nd -
The meeting commenced by all present taking the usual oath de secorto sorsando. After this all the Superiors gave an account of the Numbers of the Communities. The Meeting closed at 12 vc. P.M.

17 Meeting.
At 4 oc. Dr. The Fathers again assembled - Mr. The meeting followed the usual discussion of the movile of those enjoying a passive vote; first of those outside the Chapter, and then of the Capitular Fathers - The meeting concluded at 4 oc. Dr.
14 Meeting.
The Fathers assembled at 4.30 Mrs. on June 23rd. The discussion of the movile of the Capitular Fathers was continued -
The New Regulations for the recently established college for the Hummie, attached to her house in Leben, were read by the New Rev. Tr. Alphonse, and the Spiritual of the assembled Fathers was asked and soon - The meeting closed at 12 oc. Mrs.
After solemn leapers in the afternoon, a permanent was foreached in the Choir by the New Rev. Tr. Bugane 1st Consultor, at which all the Capitular Fathers, and all the Religious of the Relief were present. There was no afternoon meeting today.

On the morning of the 24th at 4 o'c. High Mass was celebrated by the Provincial with the usual ceremonies, - end of victor's, at the sound of the bell all the Peligious assembled, in the Church, when the Most Rev. Mr. General having talken the Prucifix intoned the "Verilla Regis", and all followed to this Chapter Room, where, after the usual prayers, the Most Rev. President dismissed those not having active voice in the Chapter, in the usual form, "Phantele."
Afterwards the Most Rev. President's address was read in English by the Ver. Rev. Mr. Alphonses - the usual formalities, culpa, absolutions etc., the names of the Capitular Jathus were then called, when the following answered to their names: —

Very Rev. Mr. Uncent. of the Lacred Heart of Lesse, Rector, Highgate.
Very Rev. Mr. Michael, of the Lacred Heart of Mary, Rector, Broadway.
Very Rev. Mr. Biongride of the Prification, Rector, Sulton. Elected
in place of the Very Rev. Mr. Gabriel resigned, who was
elected in place of the Very Rev. Mr. Saloim resigned.

Very Rev. Mr. Austin, of the 111 Dolours, Dector, Austin, elected
in place of the Very Rev. Mr. Gabriel, resigned.
Very Rev. Mr. Arbert, of L. Eul of the Cross, Dector, Belfast,
elected in place of the Very Rev. Mr. Lacificus, deceased.
Very Rev. Mr. Permandine, of the Heart of Mary, Dector, Harborne.
The votes for a Secretary for the Chapter being taken,
the choice fell upon the Very Rev. Mr. Anselm of the
Assumption - The Very Rev. Mr. Michael of the L. Heart
of Mary, and the Very Rev. Mr. Austin of the 111 Dolours
were chosen Secretaries -
The Capitular Lathors then proceeded to the election
of a Provincial, when after a few scrutinies the choice
fell upon the Very Rev. Mr. Uncent of the Heart of Issus.
The "placet" having been obtained, the Election was
published in the usual form -
The Capitulars then proceeded to the election of the 1st
Consultor, when the choice fell upon the Very Rev. Mr.
Aphonsus of the W. U. Mary - One scrutiny having
been taken for the Office of 2nd Consultor, without result,
the Session was closed with the usual prayers, when
the Religious Community were summoned by bell to

pay sedence to the new Provincial, after which all proceeded to the Church, where as usual on such occasions the "Se Beurn," was sung, and Demediation of the Prost. Holy Sacrament given -
II Session.
The Capitular Sathors assembled for the second Session at 3-30 P.M. After the Drening Prayers, they proceeded to the election of a second Consultor - the choice falling upon the Very Pro. Dr. Frank of the Resumption - The election being published more solite, the votes were taken for Blader of Doctrines - After a few scrutinies the choice fell upon the Very Pro. Dr. Dermard of the Plessed Origin Mary - This election being published, the Capitulars proceeded to the election of the Dectors for the various Debrials - First for the Debrial of St. Joseph's, Highgate, London - the choice fell upon the Very Pro. Dr. Michael of the Sacred Heart of Mary - For the Debrial of St. Lawrence, Broadway, the choice fell upon the Very Pro. Dr. Gregory of St. Joseph... On the scrutinies being taken for St. Annis Debrial, Aulton, the Very Pro. Dr. Peter Caul, of the Holy Cross was found shosen - Having proceeded to elect a Dector for St. Annis

Retieal, bublin, the Very Rev. Mr. Justin of the 11th Solomon, was shown - For the Retieal of Holy Cross, Belfast, the choice fell upon the Very Rev. Mr. Bionypice of the Durification - The final election was for the Retieal of Harborne, the Very Rev. Mr. Bernardine being elected Dector - After each of these elections, the "Placet" having been obtained, the elections were proclaimed in the usual form - This Session closed at 6 o'clock with the usual prayers.
III Session.
On Saturday morning at 9:30, the Capitular Fathers assembled for the III Session - After the usual prayers the Most Rev. Mr. General expressed his wish that the Very Rev. Mr. Begene, who on account of his age and infirmities was unable to undertake any of the active offices of the Congregation, should in consideration of his long and faithful labours for the Congregation, and in recognition of the debt due to him by the Province, henceforth mantle after the Consultors in dignity, with the honorary title of Provincial Secretary - The Capitular Fathers unanimously expressed their assent and

thanks for the exception thus made in favour of one so well minister and estimated by all.
The Most Rev. H. President then confirmed the elections of the Master of Rovers and Rectors. In this person, the following percess were made
+ 1st Decree.
1. It is ordered to the Rectors to give instructions to their peace, whose duty it is to watch over and direct the food supply. To take care that a warm pittance be supplied for the evening collation together with soup or sorm equivalent, and that the Thiday collation shall be such as to supply in some measure for the absence of the pittance at dinner. Rabe diquino which is in accordance with the Rule, Spirit and custom of our Congregation.
II Decree.
It is ordered that the Questionants in future use a uniform book which the Rectors shall supply, and

in which the Names, addresses & sums contributed by Pensators shall be inserted, together with the dates of visiting various localities, and that on their return to the Peteral these bottles shall be presented to the Pestor, who should late care that they are carefully preserved for future reference.
III Decree.
It is ordered that the Pestors and supervisors shall Petricate and Houses where there are Parochial duties, shall teep a schonate account of the Church and school income and expenditure according to the form approved by this Chapter viz. No. 5151, by Rockliffe Doc. Liverpool, supplied 21d Feb. 18th.
17 Decree.
It is ordered that besides the fulfilment of the VI Decree of the XII Session of the late General Chapter, regarding a quarterly financial report,

the Pectors and Suprimors shall send a particular and full account of income, expenditure and financial state of their Petreats, every six months, viz. in January and July of each year.
The reading of the Regulations for Missions was then continued, and had not concluded when this Lession terminated with the usual prayers at 12 o'clock P.M.
17 Lession.
At 3-30 P.M. the Capitular Fathers again assembled. - After the pressing prayers, the reading of the Mission Regulations was resumed and concluded. - The Most Rev. St. General then exhorted the assembled Fathers to vigilance in the fulfilment of the duties of their various Offices, especially, going before all the others in the fulfilment of the common observance. - Matching over the observance of the Decrees of former Chapters, and in particular the Decree regarding the use and introduction of Journals into the Petreats. - This Lession concluded with the usual prayers at 4-30 P.M.

On Monday the 24th - The Capitular Lathers assembled at 8-30 A.M. After the Spring Snappes, the Secretary read over these Acts, when the Most Rev. President interrogated the assembled Lathers, whether they recognized and held them to be legitimate ? All answered in the affirmative. Having them been interrogated, if any present had any further matter for consideration of the Chapter, - all answered in the negative -
The ready elected Lathers then made their profession of Truth - after which the Capitular Lathers through the Secr. Rev. St. Aleksander expressed their warm thanks to the Most Rev. St. General, for undertaken so long a journey to preside at this Chapter - also for the pentennes and Reindruss manifested by His Laternity during the Chapter, now brought to a close with the usual thanksgiving to Almighty God -
